Samsung Announce 256GB Flash Embedded Smartphone Memory To Boost Storage On Mobile Devices

Samsung have announced a brand new 256GB flash embedded memory solution, which will be developed specifically to target the problem of storage on high-end mobile devices.

As smartphones increasingly become indispensable to many users, demand for extra storage space has grown. Many of today’s top smartphones only go up to 128GB without microSD cards, and this has left power users battling ‘not enough space’ messages regularly. The next-gen chips will not only solve the storage problem, they’ll also be incredible fast. Samsung themselves say they’ll be twice as fast as a SATA SSD, and three times faster than the external microSD cards that many people resort to in order to boost their phone’s capacity.

Data Memory Systems is one of the US’ leading providers of memory solutions for computers, laptops, cameras, smartphones and a multitude of other digital devices. The team at Data Memory Systems believe this is a step in the right direction for the smartphone world.

A spokesman for Data Memory Systems said, “It’s fantastic that Samsung has listened to demand and announced this vastly superior flash embedded memory solution for smartphone users. Smartphones are essential in many people’s lives – they’re used for everything from online shopping and mobile banking to social media and capturing photos and videos. It’s crucial that smartphones evolve to meet the needs of the market.”

The chips won’t be embedded into new devices for some time yet – Samsung have stated they will increase production of these chips when demand increases. Rumor has it that the new Samsung Galaxy phones will come with a 64GB internal chip, with users given the ability to expand that memory with external memory cards.

The decision by Samsung to start producing the chips on a large scale may also depend on the next iPhone announcement, anticipated later in 2016. Many have speculated that the iPhone 7 could come with a 256GB chip, which could put pressure on Samsung to speed up the release of their flash embedded option.

The Data Memory Systems spokesman added, “256GB internal chips are at least six months away, if not longer – but for users who can’t wait any longer to increase the storage capacity of their smartphone, we offer a range of microSD cards that are bound to suit any power user’s needs.
